A zoetrope is a device that creates the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of images that are drawn on strips of paper or film. The images are placed inside a cylinder with slits cut into its sides. When the cylinder is spun, the slits allow glimpses of the images in rapid succession, creating the illusion of movement.
