  • Magnetic Repulsion: Understanding Forces Between Magnet Poles
When the south poles of two magnets are almost touching, the force between them is repulsive.

    Here's why:

    * Like poles repel: Magnets have two poles, a north pole and a south pole. Like poles (north-north or south-south) always repel each other.

    * Opposite poles attract: Unlike poles (north-south) always attract each other.

Therefore, when two south poles are brought close together, they will push away from each other due to the repulsive force.
