Here's how it works:
* Pitot Tube: An airspeed indicator uses a pitot tube, which is a small tube that sticks out from the front of the aircraft. This tube measures the dynamic pressure of the air flowing over the aircraft.
* Static Port: The airspeed indicator also uses a static port, which is a small hole in the side of the aircraft that measures the static pressure of the air.
* Calculation: The airspeed indicator calculates the difference between the dynamic pressure and the static pressure. This difference, known as the dynamic pressure, is directly proportional to the speed of the aircraft.
Note: Airspeed indicators display the speed in knots (nautical miles per hour).
