  • Physical States of Matter: Examples & Explanations
    Here are some examples of physical states of matter:

    Solid:

    * Ice: Frozen water

    * Rock: A hard, solid piece of mineral

    * Metal: Iron, aluminum, gold, etc.

    * Wood: A solid organic material

    * Plastic: A synthetic solid material

    * Diamond: A crystalline form of carbon

    Liquid:

    * Water: H2O at room temperature

    * Mercury: The only metal that is liquid at room temperature

    * Oil: A viscous liquid

    * Honey: A thick, sticky liquid

    * Blood: A complex liquid found in animals

    * Milk: A liquid food made from mammals

    Gas:

    * Air: A mixture of gases, mainly nitrogen and oxygen

    * Helium: A lightweight, inert gas

    * Carbon dioxide: A gas produced by respiration and combustion

    * Oxygen: A gas essential for respiration

    * Methane: A flammable gas found in natural gas

    * Steam: Water in its gaseous state

    Plasma:

    * Lightning: A superheated, ionized gas

    * The Sun: Mostly composed of plasma

    * Aurora Borealis: A natural light display caused by charged particles from the sun interacting with Earth's atmosphere

    * Fluorescent lights: Produce light by passing electricity through a gas

    * Neon signs: Produce light by passing electricity through neon gas

    Note: Plasma is considered the fourth state of matter, but it's less commonly encountered in everyday life compared to solids, liquids, and gases.
