  • Light Intensity and Distance: Understanding the Inverse Square Law
The intensity of light decreases with the square of the distance from the source. This is known as the inverse square law.

So, if you triple the distance from the light source, the intensity will decrease by a factor of 3 squared, or 9.

In other words, the intensity will be 1/9th of its original value.
