  • Understanding Balanced Forces: Motion and Inertia Explained
Balanced forces cause an object to remain at rest or continue moving at a constant velocity.

    Here's why:

    * Newton's First Law of Motion (Law of Inertia): This law states that an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

    * Balanced Forces: When forces are balanced, they cancel each other out. This means there is no net force acting on the object.

Example: Imagine a tug-of-war. If both teams pull with equal force, the rope won't move. The forces are balanced.

In short: Balanced forces create a state of equilibrium where the object's motion is not changed.
