  • Velocity: Understanding Speed and Direction of Motion
The speed and direction of a moving body is called its velocity.

    Here's why:

    * Speed tells you how fast something is moving.

    * Direction tells you which way it's moving.

Velocity combines both of these elements into a single value. For example:

    * A car traveling at 60 miles per hour north has a velocity of 60 mph north.

    * A ball thrown at 20 meters per second east has a velocity of 20 m/s east.
