  • Velocity vs. Speed: Understanding Motion in Physics
The term that describes both speed and direction of an object's motion is velocity.

    Here's why:

    * Speed tells us how fast an object is moving.

    * Direction tells us which way the object is moving.

Velocity combines both of these elements, providing a complete picture of the object's motion.

For example, saying a car is traveling at 60 mph is describing its speed. But saying a car is traveling at 60 mph north is describing its velocity.
