  • Wave Speed Calculation: Understanding Wavelength and Frequency
You can't determine the speed of a wave just from its wavelength.

    Here's why:

    * The speed of a wave depends on both wavelength and frequency.

    * Wavelength is the distance between two consecutive crests or troughs of a wave.

    * Frequency is the number of waves passing a point in a given time (usually measured in Hertz, Hz).

    * The relationship is: Speed = Wavelength x Frequency

To find the speed of a wave, you need to know BOTH its wavelength AND its frequency.
