  • Snell's Law: Understanding Refraction of Light
The law of refraction is not named after Snell. It's actually called Snell's Law, named after Willebrord Snellius, a Dutch astronomer and mathematician.

He discovered the law in the early 17th century, but it was not published until after his death. The law describes the relationship between the angles of incidence and refraction of light as it passes from one medium to another.
