  • Diffuse Reflection: Understanding How Light Scatters
    When light rays hit a rough surface and bounce back at different angles, it's called diffuse reflection.

    Here's why:

    * Diffuse means scattered or spread out.

    * Reflection means the bouncing back of light rays from a surface.

    In diffuse reflection, the light rays are scattered in many directions because the surface is uneven. This is why we can see objects from different angles, even if the light source is only shining on one side.

    In contrast, specular reflection occurs when light rays hit a smooth surface and bounce back at the same angle. This is why we see reflections in mirrors and other shiny surfaces.
