  • Understanding Speed and Acceleration: How Constant Acceleration Affects Velocity
If an object travels with constant acceleration, its speed will continuously increase over time. Here's why:

    * Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. Velocity is a combination of speed and direction.

    * Constant acceleration means the velocity changes by the same amount every second.

    * Speed is the magnitude (or size) of velocity.

Therefore, if the velocity is consistently changing by the same amount, the speed must also be consistently changing.

Important Note: Constant acceleration doesn't necessarily mean the object is moving in a straight line. It could be moving in a circle at a constant speed, for example, because the direction of its velocity is changing.
