  • The Speed of Light: Does Color Affect It?
All colors of light travel at the same velocity in a vacuum, which is the speed of light, approximately 299,792,458 meters per second.

This is a fundamental constant of the universe and doesn't change based on the color or frequency of the light.

However, when light travels through a medium other than a vacuum, its velocity can change. This change in velocity is what causes light to bend or refract, and the amount of bending depends on the color of the light. This is why we see rainbows - different colors of light are bent at slightly different angles as they pass through water droplets.
