  • Understanding Changes in Car Velocity: Speed and Direction
Here are two ways a car's velocity can change:

    1. Change in Speed: Velocity includes both speed and direction. A car's velocity changes if its speed increases or decreases.

    * Example: A car accelerating from a stop sign increases its velocity. A car braking to a stop decreases its velocity.

    2. Change in Direction: Even if a car maintains a constant speed, its velocity changes if it changes direction.

    * Example: A car traveling in a straight line at 50 mph has a constant velocity. If the car turns a corner while maintaining 50 mph, its velocity changes because its direction of motion changes.
