Here's how it works:
* Pitch: The pitch is the distance the screw advances with each full rotation of the thimble. Common pitches are 0.5 mm or 0.025 inches.
* One Revolution: One full rotation of the thimble moves the spindle (and the measuring jaws) the distance equal to the pitch.
Therefore:
* If the pitch is 0.5 mm, one revolution will indicate a movement of 0.5 mm.
* If the pitch is 0.025 inches, one revolution will indicate a movement of 0.025 inches.
To find the total movement, simply multiply the pitch by the number of revolutions.
