  • Transparent Materials: Which Substances Allow Light to Pass Through?
The kind of material through which light passes easily is called transparent.

    Here are some examples:

    * Glass: Windows, eyeglasses, and drinking glasses are made of glass.

    * Water: We can see through water, allowing us to see fish and other objects underwater.

    * Air: Light passes through the air, allowing us to see the world around us.

    * Plastic: Some plastics are transparent, like clear plastic wrap.

The opposite of transparent is opaque, which means light cannot pass through it. Examples of opaque materials include wood, metal, and thick walls.
