  • Understanding Units of Gravitational Force: m/s² Explained
The pull of gravity is expressed in units of acceleration, which is typically measured in meters per second squared (m/s²).

    Here's why:

    * Gravity is a force: It pulls objects towards each other.

    * Force causes acceleration: Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.

    * Earth's gravity causes a constant acceleration: Near the Earth's surface, gravity causes objects to accelerate downwards at approximately 9.8 m/s². This means that for every second an object falls, its downward velocity increases by 9.8 meters per second.

So, while we often talk about the "force of gravity," it's more accurate to say that gravity causes an acceleration.
