    Key Differences:

    * Type: Inertia is a property of matter, while velocity is a description of motion.

    Think of it this way: Inertia is the reason why a heavy object is hard to push or stop. Velocity is how fast and in what direction that object is moving.

    While inertia and velocity are not similar, they are related. Inertia impacts how easily an object's velocity changes. A more massive object (higher inertia) requires more force to change its velocity.
