  • Balances and Scales: Measuring Mass - Types & Applications
The instrument used to obtain the mass of an object is a balance.

There are different types of balances, including:

    * Triple Beam Balance: This type of balance uses three beams with sliding weights to measure the mass of an object.

    * Electronic Balance: This type of balance uses sensors to measure the mass of an object and displays the reading on a digital screen.

    * Spring Scale: While not technically a balance, a spring scale can also be used to determine mass. It measures the force of gravity acting on an object, which is directly proportional to its mass.

The most common and accurate way to measure the mass of an object is with an electronic balance.
