  • Understanding Weight vs. Mass: How Gravity Affects Objects
    The measure of how hard gravity pulls on an object is called weight.

    Here's why:

    * Gravity is a force of attraction between any two objects with mass.

    * Weight is the force of gravity acting on an object's mass.

    So, the heavier an object is (meaning it has more mass), the stronger the force of gravity will pull on it, resulting in a higher weight.

    Important Note: Weight is not the same as mass.

    * Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object and remains constant regardless of location.

    * Weight is a measure of the force of gravity acting on an object's mass and can change depending on the gravitational field strength. For example, you would weigh less on the moon than on Earth because the moon's gravity is weaker.
