  • Understanding Units of Force: Newtons vs. Dynes
Scientists primarily use two units of force:

    * Newton (N): This is the standard unit of force in the International System of Units (SI). One Newton is defined as the force required to accelerate a 1 kg mass at 1 m/s².

    * Dyne (dyn): This is a unit of force in the centimeter-gram-second (CGS) system. One dyne is defined as the force required to accelerate a 1 g mass at 1 cm/s².

    Relationship between Newton and Dyne:

    1 N = 10^5 dyn

While the Newton is the preferred unit in scientific work, you might occasionally encounter the dyne in older texts or specific fields.
