  • Rocket Launch: Understanding Thrust vs. Gravity - What's the Net Force?
When a rocket lifts off the ground, the upward pushing force (thrust) is greater than the downward pull of gravity.

    Here's why:

    * Thrust: The rocket engines generate a powerful force called thrust, which pushes the rocket upwards.

    * Gravity: The Earth's gravity pulls the rocket downwards.

For the rocket to lift off, the thrust must be strong enough to overcome the force of gravity. In other words, the net force (the difference between thrust and gravity) must be positive and pointing upwards.
