  • Doubling Speed: What Else Changes? Physics Explained
If the speed of a moving object doubles, then the following also doubles:

    * Distance traveled in a given time: If an object travels at twice the speed, it will cover twice the distance in the same amount of time.

    * Momentum: Momentum is calculated as mass times velocity. If velocity doubles, momentum doubles.

    * Kinetic energy: Kinetic energy is calculated as 1/2 * mass * velocity squared. Since velocity doubles, the kinetic energy will increase by a factor of 2 squared, which is 4.

It's important to note that time does not double. The object will cover twice the distance in the same amount of time.
