  • Gravitational Force and Distance: How Does It Change?
The gravitational force between two objects is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. This means:

    * If the distance is doubled, the force becomes 1/2² = 1/4 as strong.

    * If the distance is tripled, the force becomes 1/3² = 1/9 as strong.

So the gravitational force would decrease by a factor of 9.
