  • Speed vs. Velocity: Understanding the Difference
Speed is also known as velocity, but there's a subtle difference:

    * Speed is a scalar quantity, meaning it only has magnitude (how fast something is moving).

    * Velocity is a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude (how fast) and direction (which way it's moving).

So, while speed is often used interchangeably with velocity in everyday language, they have distinct meanings in physics.
