  • Velocity: Understanding Speed and Direction in Physics
The direction and speed of an object is described by its velocity.

    Here's why:

    * Speed tells you how fast an object is moving.

    * Direction tells you which way the object is moving.

Velocity combines both speed and direction. It's a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude (speed) and direction.

For example, saying a car is traveling at 60 mph is describing its speed. But saying the car is traveling at 60 mph north is describing its velocity.
