    The definition of average speed is the total distance traveled divided by the total time taken.

    Here's the formula:

    Average Speed = Total Distance / Total Time

    Example:

    If you drive 120 miles in 2 hours, your average speed is:

    Average Speed = 120 miles / 2 hours = 60 miles per hour

    Important Note: Average speed is not the same as the average of your speeds at different points in time. It's the overall speed calculated over the entire journey.
