  • Net Force: Understanding the Sum of Forces | Physics Explained
If you add together all of the forces exerted on an object and get a non-zero value, this is called a net force.

    Here's why:

    * Force: A force is a push or pull that can cause a change in an object's motion.

    * Net Force: The net force is the overall force acting on an object, taking into account the direction of all forces. It's the vector sum of all the individual forces.

    Key Points:

    * A non-zero net force means there's an imbalance of forces acting on the object.

    * This imbalance will cause the object to accelerate (change its velocity) in the direction of the net force.

    * If the net force is zero, the forces are balanced, and the object will either remain at rest or continue moving at a constant velocity.
