  • Understanding Velocity: Speed and Direction Explained
The combination of how fast you move and in what direction is called velocity.

    Here's why:

    * Speed tells you how fast something is moving, but not where it's going.

    * Direction tells you which way something is moving, but not how fast.

Velocity combines both speed and direction. It's a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude (speed) and direction.

    For example, you could say:

    * "The car is traveling at 60 miles per hour." (This is speed only)

    * "The car is traveling north." (This is direction only)

    * "The car is traveling at 60 miles per hour north." (This is velocity)
