  • Understanding Gravity: The Force That Binds the Universe
The attractive force that exists between all objects is gravity.

    Here's why:

    * Universal Law of Gravitation: Sir Isaac Newton discovered that every object in the universe attracts every other object with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers.

    * Gravitational Attraction: This means that even objects with very small masses, like a pencil and a paperclip, exert a gravitational force on each other. However, the force is so small that we don't notice it.

    * Earth's Gravity: We experience gravity most noticeably as the force that pulls us towards the Earth's surface. The Earth's massive size creates a significant gravitational force that keeps us grounded.

While gravity is the weakest of the four fundamental forces in physics, it's also the most pervasive, acting over vast distances. It's responsible for the formation of planets, stars, and galaxies, and it dictates the orbits of everything in the universe.
