  • Longshore Drift: Understanding Coastal Erosion & Sediment Transport
Imagine you're at the beach, and waves are coming in at a bit of an angle, not straight at the shore. The waves push water along the coast, kind of like a river flowing sideways. This sideways movement of water is called longshore drift. It's caused by the waves hitting the shore at a slight angle, which makes the water flow parallel to the coastline.
