  • Understanding Weather Fronts: Cold, Warm, and Stationary
The boundary that forms between two colliding air masses is called a front.

There are several types of fronts, each with different characteristics:

    * Cold Front: A cold air mass pushes into a warmer air mass, forcing the warm air to rise rapidly. This can create thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds.

    * Warm Front: A warm air mass pushes into a colder air mass, slowly lifting the cold air. This often brings light to moderate rain or snow, and temperatures gradually increase.

    * Stationary Front: Two air masses meet but neither is strong enough to displace the other. This can bring prolonged periods of rain or snow.

    * Occluded Front: A cold front overtakes a warm front, lifting the warm air completely. This can bring a wide range of weather conditions, from rain to snow to thunderstorms.
