  • Understanding Solids: Shape, Volume, and Particle Arrangement
The state of matter in which a material has a definite shape and volume is solid.

    Here's why:

    * Solids have tightly packed particles that vibrate in place. This strong attraction between particles gives solids their rigidity and defined shape.

    * Liquids have particles that are close together but can move around, allowing them to take the shape of their container while maintaining a fixed volume.

    * Gases have particles that are far apart and move freely, taking the shape and volume of their container.
