* Remain at rest: If the object was already stationary, it will continue to be stationary.
* Continue moving at a constant velocity: If the object was already in motion, it will continue moving at the same speed and in the same direction.
This is due to Newton's First Law of Motion (Law of Inertia):
* An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
In other words, an object will only change its state of motion if a net force acts upon it. If the net force is zero, there is no change in its state of motion.
