  • Speed of Light in Air: Understanding Units & Calculation
    The speed of light through air is not measured in seconds. It's measured in meters per second (m/s).

    Here's why:

    * Speed is a measure of how fast something is moving. It's calculated by dividing the distance traveled by the time it takes to travel that distance.

    * Seconds measure time.

    * Meters per second tells us how many meters something travels in one second.

    The speed of light in a vacuum (which is very close to the speed in air) is approximately:

    * 299,792,458 meters per second (m/s)
