  • Sound Intensity Units: Decibels (dB) & Watts per Square Meter (W/m²)
The intensity of sound is typically measured in two units:

    * Decibels (dB): This is the most common unit for measuring sound intensity. It's a logarithmic scale, meaning that a small change in decibels represents a large change in sound intensity.

    * Watts per square meter (W/m²): This is the unit for measuring sound intensity in terms of power per unit area.

While both units measure sound intensity, decibels are more commonly used because they better reflect the way humans perceive sound. Our ears perceive sound intensity on a logarithmic scale, so decibels provide a more intuitive way to represent sound levels.
