  • Speed of Light: Miles Per Second & Understanding its Velocity
Light travels at an incredibly fast speed, but it's not usually measured in miles per hour. Here's why:

    * Speed of Light: Light travels at approximately 186,282 miles per *second* (or about 670,616,629 miles per hour).

    * Standard Units: Scientists and engineers typically use meters per second (m/s) for the speed of light. This is because the meter is the standard unit of length in the International System of Units (SI). The speed of light in meters per second is approximately 299,792,458 m/s.

While the speed of light is often expressed in miles per hour, it's more common to use meters per second because it simplifies calculations and aligns with the standard units used in scientific fields.
