  • Understanding Acceleration: How Speed Changes Over Time
The amount by which speed increases in one second is called acceleration.

    Here's why:

    * Speed is how fast an object is moving.

    * Acceleration is the rate at which an object's speed changes over time.

So, if an object's speed increases by 5 meters per second every second, its acceleration is 5 meters per second squared (m/s²).
