  • Velocity vs. Speed: Understanding Motion & Direction
The term that describes how fast an object is moving and in what direction is velocity.

    Here's why:

    * Speed tells us how fast an object is moving, but it doesn't tell us the direction.

    * Velocity combines both speed and direction. It's a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude (speed) and direction.

    Example:

    * A car traveling at 60 miles per hour has a speed of 60 mph.

    * A car traveling at 60 miles per hour north has a velocity of 60 mph north.
