  • Understanding Units of Mass: Kilograms, Grams & More
    The standard unit for measuring mass is the kilogram (kg).

    Here are some other units you might encounter:

    * Gram (g): A smaller unit, with 1000 grams equaling 1 kilogram.

    * Milligram (mg): An even smaller unit, with 1000 milligrams equaling 1 gram.

    * Metric ton (t): A larger unit, with 1000 kilograms equaling 1 metric ton.

    It's important to note that weight is different from mass. Weight is the force of gravity acting on an object's mass. While we often use kilograms to measure both weight and mass in everyday language, technically, weight is measured in Newtons (N).
