  • Diving Plate Melting: Understanding Heat Damage and Prevention
    The bottom edge of a diving plate melts in the heat of the sun.

    While the diving plate itself doesn't usually melt, the heat from the sun can cause the surface it's resting on to become hot enough to melt the bottom edge. This is especially true for diving plates made of materials like metal or plastic that have lower melting points.
