There are several types of anemometers, but the one with a funnel shape is specifically called a cup anemometer.
* Cup anemometers have three or four cups that are shaped like hemispheres. These cups rotate due to the wind force, and the speed of rotation is directly proportional to the wind speed. The rotations are counted by a sensor, which then converts them into wind speed readings.
