  • Earth's Motions in Space: Rotation & Revolution Explained
The Earth makes two main motions in space:

    1. Rotation: The Earth spins on its axis, completing one full rotation approximately every 24 hours. This rotation is what causes day and night.

    2. Revolution: The Earth orbits around the Sun in an elliptical path, completing one full revolution approximately every 365.25 days. This revolution is what causes the seasons.
