  • Understanding Material Interfaces: Definition & Types
The boundary between two materials is called an interface. An interface is a surface that separates two different materials or phases. Interfaces can be either physical or chemical in nature. Physical interfaces are created when two materials are in contact with each other, but do not react chemically. Chemical interfaces are created when two materials react chemically with each other.
