  • Molecular Motion: Understanding Particle Speed from Slowest to Fastest
    1. Solid

    2. Liquid

    3. Gas

    4. Plasma

In the solid state, molecules are tightly packed together and have very little room to move. In the liquid state, molecules are still close together, but they have more room to move and can rotate around each other. In the gas state, molecules are spread out and have a lot of room to move. In the plasma state, electrons have been stripped away from the atoms, allowing them to move freely.
