  • Conduction vs. Collision: Understanding Heat Transfer
    No.

Conduction is the transfer of heat through direct contact between two substances. For example, if you put a metal spoon in a hot cup of coffee, the heat from the coffee will transfer to the spoon through conduction.

When one thing hits another, the energy is transferred through a collision, not through direct contact. This is called convection, not conduction.
