  • Understanding Acceleration: How It Changes Motion
    1. Speed

    - Acceleration can change the speed of an object by either increasing or decreasing it.

    - e.g. a car accelerating from rest to 60 mph; a skydiver falling toward Earth.

    2. Direction

    - Acceleration can change the direction of an object's motion.

    - e.g. a car turning a corner; a satellite orbiting the Earth.

    3. Both Speed and Direction

    - Acceleration can also change both the speed and direction of an object's motion.

    - e.g. a car that is accelerating around a curve.
