  • Why Spinning in the Opposite Direction Doesn't Fix Dizziness
Spinning in the opposite direction will not help regain your balance, and indeed make it worse.

The disorienting feeling of dizziness after spinning is due to the fluid in the semicircular canals of the inner ear being set into motion. This fluid movement sends signals to the brain that the head is still moving, even when it has stopped.

Trying to counter the dizziness by spinning the other way worsens the confusion, because it further stimulates the fluid in the semicircular canals. The brain receives mixed signals about head movement, leading to increased disorientation and potential nausea.

To regain balance after spinning, it's best to focus on fixing the gaze on a stationary object and waiting for the fluid in the inner ear to settle. Walking or moving the head slowly can also help reduce the feeling of dizziness.
