Pounds per lineal inch, often abbreviated PLI, is a measure of the amount of weight in a length of some material. PLI can be used in the construction industry to calculate the amount of weight that is on top of a beam.

Weigh the item and record the weight in pounds.

Divide the number of pounds by the number of inches.
