    Angular velocity is a measure of the rotational speed of an object, and is described in terms of an angle measure per unit of time, such as degrees per minute, degrees per hour, radians per minute or radians per hour. Angular velocity is not directly related to linear velocity. For example, the tip of a fan blade has a higher linear speed than the inside of the fan blade because it covers a longer distance in the same amount of time, but it has the same angular velocity because it makes the same number of revolutions per unit of time.

    Calculate or look up the number of revolutions per unit of time that you're interested in. For example, to find the angular velocity of a fan, you can look up in the owner's manual how many rotations it makes per minute.

    Multiply the number of rotations per minute by 360 to find the angular velocity in degrees per minute. For example, if a fan spins at 30 rotations per minute, you would multiply 30 by 360 to get 10,800 degrees per minute.

    Multiply the angular velocity in degrees per minute by 60 to convert to degrees per hour. In this example, you would multiply 10,800 by 60 to get 648,000 degrees per hour.

    Multiply the number of rotations per minute by 6.28 (which is roughly two times the value of pi) to find the angular velocity in radians per minute. In this example, you would multiply 30 by 6.28 to get 188.4 radians per minute.

    Multiply the angular velocity as measured in radians per minute by 60 to convert to radians per hour. For this example, you would multiply 188.4 by 60 to get 11,304 radians per hour.
